Edo Queens forward Mary Mamudu, opened scoring for the homers  in 37th minute of action. The muscular ladies from Owerri did all they could to get a goal but the Benin City based ladies dominated in all department of the game leaving no stone unturned.

Both teams resumed the second half looking aggressively hungry for goals but the defending champions kept putting pressure on the visitors. The consistent pressure from Edo Queens resulted in a penalty as the Owerri ladies couldn’t absorb the pressure. In a goal mouth struggle, the ball rolled into the hands of Heartland Queens defender, the centre referee quickly pointed to the penalty box. Wasting no  time, lanky Esther Inyang, positioned the ball, went straight for the penalty kick and  converted it into goal in the 74th minute giving the host team a two nil comfortable lead.

Edo  Queens have been nothing short of remarkable this season, boasting a record of 8 wins, two draws and maintaining a fantastic record of unbeaten run. Having collected  26 points from 10 matches, the  prestigious Super 6 showpiece ticket can be said to be done and dusted. Available records have shown that Edo Queens, Remo Stars and Nasarawa Amazons are the three major contenders for the Super 6 slot in Group A.

“I must commend the team for their exploit. They are really making the state proud. I’m so happy with the entire team. We are almost there. I like them to maintain this tempo. The road to Super 6 is clear, and football fans across the country are  looking up to Edo Queens to win the NWFL Premiership title back- to- back. I know my players have all it takes to do it.
