Edo Queens host Rivers Angels in last league game

As Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), regular season comes to an end tomorrow, former Champions Edo Queens FC will on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, lock horns with their South -South arch-rivals Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt in Match Day 18 derby to wrap up the 2025/26 (NWFL) premiership season.

Having played a 1-1 draw against Ibom Angels at home last week Wednesday, the Coach Moses Aduku – led Queens have long qualified for the Super 6.

This eagerly anticipated premier encounter between Edo Queens and Rivers Angels on Wednesday is most likely going to be a pre – Super 6 rehearsal game as both teams get ready for yet another titanic battle in the Super 6 title campaign.

Let’s not forget the fact that Edo Queens started the 2025/2026 season with a star match against Bayelsa Queens FC in Yenagoa and are also ending the regular season with another star match against Rivers Angels at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.

Be it as it may, the former WAFU – B champions, are set to roar out of the blocks to give Rivers Angels a run for their money.

Nevertheless, the Benin City Queens are already mapping out strategies on how to continue their impressive run at a frenetic pace as they prepare for (NWFL) glamorous Super 6 showpiece.

For historical facts, Edo Queens only lost two games and draw two out of 17 matches played. There is no doubt that the players have enjoyed a remarkable season, and are ready and equally determined to do the State proud against the Coach Tosan Blankson tutored side in tomorrow’s cracker. Even though there is nothing at stake.

In the first leg played in Port Harcourt, Edo Queens suffered a 2-1 defeat to Rivers Angels. In this wrap up game, the management, fans and football pundits in the State have charged the girls to go for nothing but victory against Rivers Angels. The game will also give Edo Queens the opportunity to wave goodbye to their teeming fans at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Therefore a win in this epic game will go along way in boosting the morale of the team towards the Super 6.

Edo Queens, Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens are the three clubs that secured ticket for Super 6 in Group A. With just one match to go, the Queens currently sits 3rd with 33 points, Rivers Angels 2nd with 34 points while Bayelsa Queens occupy 1st position with 37 points.
