Edo impeachment saga: Shaibu denies Agbebaku’s claim

The drama characterised by the twist and turn in the impeachment plot against the Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu took another dimension as the Deputy Governor, has refuted allegations by the Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly(EDHA), Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, that he was evading service of impeachment notice by the legislature.

In a letter dated March 12 to the Speaker through his Personal Assistant(PA), Charles Olubayo, the Deputy Governor insisted that he was never served any letter of impeachment notice and as such, the issue of evading service was unfounded.

The letter titled; ‘Re: Service of Impeachment Notice’, clarified that the Deputy Governor has been away from Benin since March 3 when he traveled to Abuja.

The statement added that the allegation by the Speaker during plenary that he should be served the purported notice of impeachment via publication in the Nigerian Observer and other newspapers was a misrepresentation and misinformation of facts.
