Pastor Evelyn Omigie, a caregiver at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp situated in Uhogua in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, has expressed her joy of fulfillment seeing that nine of the children from the facility just recently graduated with a BSc Degree in Anatomy from the Ekiti State University even as she hammered on the need for financial support for the children to achieve their academic goals.

“We give all the honour to God on the success of this our nine children who just graduated from Ekiti State University. They read Anatomy. We appreciate God for keeping them and helping them.

How a lady left the shores of UK to celebrate her birthday at the IDPs Camp in Uhogua, Edo State

“We appreciate God for them for being able to come out successfully, graduating after the four years they spent in the school. I must tell you it wasn’t a funny thing. We give thanks to God.

“It wasn’t easy paying their school fees, their transportation, their feeding, accommodation fees etc. It wasn’t easy but we give thanks to God they were successful and today they are honoured, they’re B.Sc holders in Anatomy.”

Further more, she disclosed: “We have over four hundred of them in various universities. The children made up their mind to achieve academic goals. They were determined and we, the management of the Home for the Needy Foundation, we tried our best.

“We thank God for our Coordinator (Pastor Solomon Abumere Folorunsho). We that are with him we have to go extra mile, do different things, talk to people, take money from where we’re not supposed to take from etc.

“All to make sure that these children achieve their academic goals. Tracing where they’re coming from, victims of genocide, some of them see their parents killed etc. And the trauma they went through.

“Some of them were hospitalized for more than three months in UBTH. Coming out of these they were still able, with encouragement and all, to say ‘I want to read.’

“Not just to end at Primary 6 level. Not just to end at JSS 3 level. Not just to end at SS 3 level but to climb the four walls of a university reading Anatomy and today they have successfully graduated we give thanks to God.”

She extended appreciation to all those who supported the Foundation “in cash and in kind. All those who supported in one way and the other. I am sure they’ll be very happy hearing and seeing that these children have successfully graduated.

“I still want to say that we still have so many of them over four hundred in various universities in Nigeria that need support.”

According to her, “we have nineteen of our children who are 500 level Law students who have been denied of taking several exams just because of school fees, arrears of unpaid school fees. Please I am appealing.

“Come support these children. You can take up responsibility for as many as you’re capable of supporting. You can connect us to any scholarship organization so that these children can achieve their academic goals.

“As I am talking to you over a hundred of them are going to seat for this year’s JAMB that they’re starting soon. You know what that means. As some are going out some are coming in. Last year we graduated fifty five of them. More than ten are lawyers. In fact six medical doctors etc.

“Please support these children. Whatever you give will get to them. You can decide to be paying their school fees. We will give you all the information. All we want is that these children are able to achieve their academic goals. We don’t want them to be dropouts. We don’t want them to fail in their academic pursuit.”

She asserted that the children “have the capacity to succeed. They read. They have all it takes to succeed because they’re determined. All they need is just financial support. Please come support these children to be able to achieve their academic goals.”
