Imariagbe, who urged all residents of the Benin metropolis to cooperate with the government to engender a sustainable and cleaner environment in the state, noted that a clean environment will further help maintain the health of citizens and stop the spread of deadly infectious diseases such as COVID-19, cholera, typhoid, lassa fever, among others.

Charging for compliance with the weekly environmental sanitation exercise, the General Manager said mobile courts will be stationed across the city to try all environmental offenders.

He noted: “The Edo State Waste Management Board is embarking on a weekly environmental sanitation exercise across Benin City, effect from Saturday, April 3, 2021.

“The exercise will be without restriction of movements. Citizens are to ensure that their premises are kept clean as mobile courts will be stationed across the city to try all environmental offences.

“Gutters and road setbacks around facilities should be kept clean as well.

“For inquiries, facility owners/occupiers are to contact the waste manager in their zones,” he added.

Imariagbe encouraged residents to call the agency’s customer care line, 08109670791, for complaints, inquiry and other sundry issues, or write to the General Manager, Edo State Waste Management Board, Governor’s office, Benin City.
