Edo FA boss promises eldorado

Fred Erhunmwunse, the Chairman of the board of Edo State Football Association(FA), has promised that he is much interested in making the level of the development of the game of football in the state the envy of other states in the federation.

He made the promise on Thursday morning on the occasion of the trio programmes of launching of a digitalised website that will henceforth be used to compile information as regards football clubs which are affiliated to the state FA; unveil the Royal MVP International Consult partnership deal with the association and also to conduct the draw of the state’s 2024 football league.

On the digital website, he stated: “We want to make progress in Edo State. We want to see players in Edo make waves. We want to market players. We want them to be bread winners of their various families and we want to change the face of football in Edo State.

“You can see that we are going digital in Edo State FA. We just unveiled a website for the association for data base of all Edo State clubs that are affiliated with us. This is to enable easy access to the data base of players. We are very happy with this innovation and we will continue to embark on projects that will better the lives of our young players in Edo State.”

He charged those who are knowledgeable in football and have ideas to contribute towards moving the game to the next level in the state to feel free and bring their ideas forth to the association “as we cannot do it alone.”

Speaking on the state football league, Erhunmwunse averred that the tournament has been in the doldrums for years even as some clubsides who have in the past shown interest in participating in it have been disappointed that it never held.

In his own submission, Pastor Vasillis Moses, the Sporting Director of Royal MVP International Consult, affirmed that there is a huge financial treasure base in the game of football which is always available to be tapped into by anyone interested.

He asserted that the partnership between his organisation and the Edo FA will in due course yield good fruits adding that the outcome of the deal will rebrand the Edo FA in line with international standards.

“Let us join hands to see how we can make good use of the opportunity to be provided by the scouting programme which is a five day event that will be accessible free to all clubs. It will afford the scouts enough room to assess the talents that abound in Edo State.”

He stated that his organisation cannot do it alone and thus he called on “partners and friends” to join the train adding “it is public sector driven. When we knock at your doorstep for your support please open the door for us.”

Pastor Moses disclosed that the programme will be a yearly event which “will blossom so high to attract foreign involvement.”

Highlight of the day’s programme was the conduct of the draw of the state 2024 football league tournament with 28 teams participating and which Erhunmwunse promised will produce quality representatives for the nation wide league contest coming up later in the year.
