Edo 2024: Shaibu brings free health facility to doorsteps

Ahead the 2024 gubernatorial party primaries and elections in Edo State, the state Deputy Governor, Comrade Comrade Philip Shaibu, who is the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) leading aspirant, is bringing a mobile health check clinic to your home(doorsteps).

A ‘Man Van’ which is part of his innovative targeted outreach programme to the most vulnerable in our society, will improve healthcare access for men and potentially speed up the detection of prostate cancer.

As part of Philip Shaibu’s Edo Agenda mantra to improve healthcare situations of Edo State, the mobile health clinic which has been introduced by Philip Shaibu will be launched to improve healthcare access for Edo people who are less likely to receive regular health checks, and are at risk of having cancer diagnosed late, when it is more difficult to treat.

The ‘Man Van’ – will be operated by professional Orologists and Oncologists to attend to patients and will be visiting the entire wards and local government of Edo State.

The mobile clinic is targeting over 10,000 people for examination during the pilot phase, and when elected as the Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu will acquire more of the mobile clinic for all the local government to have routine access to it.

Bearing in mind that prostate cancer is the most common cause of cancer in men and one of the most common around the world to date and it has no consensus on screening. Multiple large-scale trials from around the world have produced conflicting outcomes in cancer-specific and overall mortality.

Shaibu’s Mobile Clinic is targeted at finding, focusing on high-risk groups and a solution to help those that most need it because of a range of barriers to accessing healthcare which Shaibu has identified, including low education levels which resulted in a lack of knowledge of the relevant symptoms, logistical difficulties in accessing healthcare due to anti-social working hours, geographical locations and financial considerations.
