Edo Peoples Redemption Party(PRP) has flagged off its campaign activities in Benin City, the state capital, in preparation for the Saturday, September 21st Governorship Election.
The Event which was was supposed to hold at the NTA Open field was later moved to NTA Event Hall due to the early morning rains which lasted till noon. On ground at the epoch event were representatives of the national chairman of the party, campaign council members and state executive members.
The state chairman, Dr. Greg Igbinomwanhia, who anchored the programme, in his welcome address encouraged members and supporters to galvanize support through reaching out to other Edolites for the party “in the election that will bring good governance to the people of Edo.”
The high point of the occasion was the official handing over of the party flag to the governorship candidate, Madam Patience Ndidi Ofure Key and her deputy, Hon. Abuomwande Ojo Advice and their presentation to party faithful and supporters.
In her acceptance speech, Madam Patience Key thanked the national body for the privilege to fly the party’s flag for the election and promised not to disappoint saying “words of our mouth are powerful. Just say it and believe and it will work for you.”
She went further to say Edo needs redemption and that is what she is bringing through her three points agenda of integrated human capital development; diversification of the economy from oil and gas through the harnessing of other natural resources and infrastructurel development.
Finally, she said PRP has the key to open and bring redemption, prosperity, good health facilities, good educational system, industrialization of Edo and more to the good people of the state through her sincere and good governance and for this she is seeking for support through their votes to make the dream a reality.
The Association of female students of Edo State, led by the President, Comrade Omoruyi Alice, presented an award of women empowerment in leadership to Madam Key.
