Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has said that it has uncovered a sinister plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to use in the forthcoming election in Edo State the Hope Uzodinma template which was used in the Imo State gubernatorial election whereby “they(APC) will have in their possession fake results and then try to disrupt election in certain units which they identify across the state.
Speaking at a press briefing in its campaign office in Benin City on Sunday afternoon, Chris Nehikhare, its Publicity Secretary in Edo State warned it archival the APC not to adopt in Edo State the Hope Uzodinma template adopted in Imo State.
“As election is going on they will try to disrupt it and then go to the safety of a hotel to write results and try to smuggle it if not at the point of collation but at the tribunal when they have been defeated roundly.
“But that plot has been uncovered and we are telling them that if they try it even the tribunal will not listen to them this time because a fake result is a fake result and serious defeat awaits them in the election in a few weeks time.
“Edo people are wiser now and they will defend their votes. We encourage them to defend their votes.”
Nehikhare asserted that the APC scared of failure in the forthcoming governorship election in the state has started intimidating voters with scare messages of arms build up, invasion of thuggery and violence.
“We have to guarantee Edo people free, fair and transparent election. Do not be intimidated. Do not be scared. Come out to vote. Come out to reject APC on that day with your PVC and we believe you can do it.
“Do not be scared with their fake news of there is going to be violence; there is going to be arms build up and there are going to be thugs here and there.
“Their thugs, their lions and their tigers have been tamed. And I am sure that you know that hunters are available everywhere to hunt down lions and tigers; to silence them and discomfiture them.
“PDP with the trust and support of Edo people are going to tame these lions and tigers. We are already taming them.”
On the modular refinery project, Nehikhare said that “they are shocked that this refinery is working. This refinery is a project of the Edo State government in partnership with a private company. Even the company has come out with a statement to confirm that it is Edo State project.”
Going forward, he said: “From all intent and purposes it is Edo State government project propelled by the vision of Godwin Obaseki.
“It hurts APC to know that this is just one of the few projects designed to create jobs for our teeming youths. Instead of them to be happy that this has come to Edo State and is being propelled by Edo State government they have come up with all sorts of narratives.
“I think as they say in local parlance ‘the thing dey pepper dem for body.’ So, we all have to encourage this government to carry on and do more when it comes back in a second tenure.”
