EDHA imbroglio: Suspended lawmaker tells constituents to remain calm

The lawmaker representing Orhionmwon South Constituency in Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Bright Iyamu, who was recently placed on suspension along with two others, has urged his constituents and supporters to remain calm and shun any form of violence assuring that the ugly situation will be brought under control.

The lawmaker is making his first reaction to the suspension slammed on him and Hon. Donald Okogbe (PDP Akoko-Edo II) and Adeh Isibor (APC Esan North-East Constituency I) on Monday, 6th May 2024.

According to a statement from his office on Tuesday, Hon. Iyamu said “I had no motive to call for the impeachment of the Speaker, nor the intentions to impugn the integrity of the house.”

Iyamu reassured his constituents and supporters that normalcy will be restored soon to the Edo State House of Assembly.

Recall that the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, suspended three members for allegedly plotting to effect a change of leadership in the house. 

The suspended lawmakers are two Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) members and one All Progressives Congress(APC) chieftain.
