Viewers are in for exciting moments on EBS TV station starting from Monday, May 5, 2025, as its major news programme, EBS Comprehensive News, which airs at 8pm daily metamorphosis to EBS Tonight which will feature a comprehensive look at news from all sectors of our national life, including significant international stories.
One of the highlights of this new programme will be live interviews with esteemed guests from around the globe, allowing for in-depth discussions and diverse perspectives on the issues that matter most. Initially, EBS Tonight will be a one-hour show, with plans to extend into a two-hour uninterrupted news talk show in the near future.
Said the management of the state owned broadcast outfit, “after decades of dedicated service, we believe it is time to retire EBS Comprehensive News and embrace this innovative format with EBS Tonight. The changing landscape of news consumption calls for a fresh approach that not only informs but engages our audience in a meaningful dialogue. We are committed to providing compelling content that reflects the dynamic world we live in.”
Going further, the management asserted: “We want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our viewers, including our esteemed EBS alumni in Nigeria and the Diaspora, for your unwavering support throughout the years.
“Your loyalty has been instrumental in our journey, and we especially thank EBS’s number one fan and brand ambassador, Governor Monday Okpebholo, for his belief in our vision and determination to see EBS compete with the leading players in the media industry.”
Those in the know stressed that all these modern day broadcast media concepts are what Sulaiman Aledeh, MD/Editor-in-Chief of the Edo Broadcasting Service(EBS), who was brought in by Governor Monday Okpebholo to rejig the station which was at a point going into oblivion, is bringing in to show that his years of extensive on the job training around the country is worth it.
To spice it up Aledeh also brought in some reputable broadcast media professionals to interprete his vision of a top of the range broadcast outfit in such a way to elevate the coverage of the station to new heights even as state of the arts equipment are now littering the length and breadth of the station reputed to have in the past acted as training ground for many broadcasters in the then Midwest region cum Bendel State.
