Discordant tunes has heralded the explusion of Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, former member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Oredo Federal Constituency of Edo State, from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) by Ward 2 Oredo Chapter.
In a telephone conversation with Popular News, the two tenure erstwhile reps member, who also participated in the party’s 2024 gubernatorial primaries last February, said: “I will not honour them with a response. Those who gathered under the influence of a token sum of money to carry out the dirty job have you investigated their standing in the party? And do they have the authority to carry out their nonsense action?”
In his own response to the action a member of the National Executive Council(NEC) of the party, who preferred anonymity, described those who said they have expelled the former federal lawmaker from the party as a bunch of jokers. He averred that they are ignorant of the party’s constitution.
“First, let me tell you that none of those people are executive either in ward or local government area. You can just seat down in beer parlor after collecting N5,000 each and say we are suspending or expelling you. PDP constitution is very clear on the procedure to suspend or expel a member of the party. Not what this bunch of jokers are doing.
“Again, you see, Godwin Obaseki will never learn, for him and his co-travellers to concentrate on building one united party that will approach the governorship election, he is busy fighting everyone.
“Did Obaseki think that the way he is running the government of Edo State, that he can run the party like that. Just the way he appoints his Commissioners, SSA and sack them at will, he believes that is how PDP is run. It is a pity that the man is destroying the party.”
In its statement, the PDP said that “Hon. Ogbiede Ihama Omoregie, has been expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for anti-party activities.
“He was expelled by Ward 2 Oredo Local Government Area (LGA), following the resolution of an enlarged meeting by the ward members and executives, held on Airport Road in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Reading the resolution, the Chairman of PDP Ward 2 in Oredo, Lawrence Aguebor said the expulsion followed the suspension of Ogbeide Ihama by the ward executives and critical stakeholders of Oredo Ward 2, who met on 3rd of May 2024, and suspended the ex-Rep member for 30 days after which a disciplinary committee was set up.”
Part of the reasons given for Ogbeide-Ihama’s expulsion is that he has donated his building at Ring Road by Sakponba Road Junction to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be used as campaign office for the 2024 September 21st governorship election in the state.
