Destruction of Edo NMA will serve no one any good

Dear distinguished medical elders, senior colleagues, colleagues of Edo NMA and gentlemen of the press,
I bring you warm greetings.

I appreciate your utmost support for Edo NMA and the sacrifices made thus far to reposition our dear association, particularly in this time of her challenge and trial, occasioned by the ugly events that transpired during the 2023 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference (AGM & SC) of the Association.

These are not uncommon in political spheres however, the utmost duty of a leader in sincerely committing to the growth and development of the followers, is to chat a way forward through progressive leadership.

The “divide the baby, let it neither be mine nor yours” will certainly not take any group or association forward and should not be the route to be taken by any person or group(s) of persons.

I wish to state here that the destruction of Edo NMA will serve no one any good.

I have therefore decided that, in due deference and compliance to the directives of the Committee of Past NMA Chairmen (CPC) and medical elders, I wish to pull out the statements made at the press briefing and will henceforth not respond to any media enquiries on the unfortunate events that transpired, or the happenings during the ongoing AGM.

I also at this point enjoin all Edo NMA members to put the sad events of the last couple of days behind them and join us to forge a way forward together.

Progress and development can only occur under the atmosphere of peace and stability and I am committed to doing everything within my power to ensure these happen in Edo NMA, and with utmost respect to my noble elders of the association.

During this period of AGM recess and the ensuing conflict that followed the business session of the AGM, a meeting of the Committee of Past Chairmen (CPC) of Edo NMA was convened.
I am hopeful and confident that decisions reached by them will foster the much desired peace.

I am resolute and committed to the smooth sailing of this ship of Edo NMA to the shores of safety, no matter the storm.

Once again, I express my profound gratitude to all who have and will join me in this walk on the path of peace and progress.

I firmly believe that the unfortunate circumstances we have found ourselves, will be addressed and sorted out in due course.

Long live Edo NMA.
