Vijah Eldred Opuama, the governorship candidate of the Liberation Movement in the 2019 gubernatorial polls in Bayelsa State, has demanded for N30 billion from Chief Benson Agadaga, the Chief of Staff to Governor Douye Diri for flagrant abuse of his fundamental human rights.
The complainant, who was arrested on August 15th, 2020, at the Bayelsa Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting at Wuse Zone 6, Abuja on allegations that he recorded a phone call he received from a caller who identified himself as Chief Benson Agadaga, Chief of Staff, Bayelsa State Government House was detained and denied bail from 15th August 2020 to 10th September 2020 when the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ordered for his release.
It will be recalled that Vijah Opuama filed election Petition seeking to disqualify and remove Governor Douye Diri from office. His arrest prevented him from attending his own tribunal matter.
The N30 billion law suit was filed on behalf of Vijah Opuama by his lawyers – P. D. Pius(Esq) and E. A. Aluzu(Esq).
Respondents in the suit include; Chief Benson Agadaga, ASP Mohammed Gimba, A. A. Elleman ACP, IGP Monitoring Unit, IGP and Attorney-General of the Federation. The suit is yet to be assigned for hearing.
