Day women journalists and Red Cross took Covid-19 sensitisation to a major market in Benin

As part of efforts to checkmate the novel pandemic ravaging the world,  the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Edo State in collaboration with the Nigeria Red Cross Society Edo State Branch embarked  on sensitization to Oba market in the heart of Benin metropolis.

Chairperson of the Association, Comrade Adesuwa Ehimuan led other members to Oba Market in Oredo Local Government Area, to sensitize market women on the need to observe all precautionary measures put in place by government on the use of hand washing soap, use of face mask and sanitizer, among others in day to day activities.

Comrade Ehimuan urged  all market women to be on guard especially for the family and the society at large in curbing the spread of Covid-19 while selling.

On his part, Branch Communicator Coordinate, Nigeria Red Cross Society Edo State Branch, Oghenetejiri Ovwigho – Ugbede said it was important to partner other  groups to reach out to more people which NAWOJ and Red Cross were doing in the  market.

Earlier, Head of market women in Benin, Madam Blackie Ogiamen represented by Madam Taiwo  Osagie, also harped on the use of facemask and washing of hands with running water. She thanked NAWOJ and Nigeria Red Cross Society for coming to educate market women.

Some women present at the sensitization promised to take the message to their various homes and educate their customers on all the precautionary measures against COVID19.
