The case between the Edo State Government and Johnson Atseleghe plus seven others which came up on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020, at Criminal Court 4 in Benin City took a new twist as a fallout of the recent endSARS protests around the country which resulted in jailbreak in Benin City and Lagos.

The case bothering among others on conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping and malicious damage had to be adjourned to Wednesday, November 11th, 2020, even as the defendants’ counsels led by Barrister Madagbelo (SAN) came up with a preliminary objection to the charges the applicant brought against them.

In the interim the case had to be adjourned as only one, Johnson Atseleghe(who claimed to be sick) out of the eight defendants was present in court. The others were said to still be in protective custody and were not brought to the court.

Barrister Mathew Edaghese led the applicants’ legal team in the case that was reassigned from Criminal Court 1 to Court 4.
