Court adjourn hearing in Atseleghe’s allege kidnap and murder case

Criminal court 4, Benin City, presided over by Justice Mary Itsueli has adjourned the case of the State versus the Iyatsere of Warri, Chief Johnson Atseleghe and11 others for the alleged kidnapping and murder of the Okaighele of Kolokolo Community, in Ologbo Dukedom of Edo State.

Having heard the submissions of the different parties, Justice Itsueli adjourned the case to Wednesday, 21st of April,  2021, for hearing.

When the matter came up for hearing, Counsel to the 8th defendant (Atseleghe), Barrister O. C. Okeke brought a motion they earlier filed to set aside the charge sheet which they have argued before the former judge who was handling the case but has been transferred.

Justice Mary Itsueli took the motion and reserved ruling till  the 21st of April, 2021.

Barrister Emmanuel Idahosa,  counsel to  the  family of the deceased, in a chat with reporters, said: “the judge has taken the motion and she has reserved the ruling till the 21st of April, 2021.”
