“I nearly lost my life in an accident last week Tuesday while driving down Upper Mission Road in Benin City for an important function of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) Edo Chapter, of which I am the jurisdiction prelate.

“Unbeknownst to me, I strayed off the road near the river due to poor road construction and a damaged road divider which my car climbed, only to come to a standstill at a raised point of the poorly constructed road divider.

“I had a difficult time locating help because the incident occured at night. This awful incident, according to residents of the area, occurs practically every other day on Upper Mission Road, and still, the Edo State government has refused to maintain the road, putting lives of taxpayers and other Nigerians who use the road in jeopardy,” he said.

Bishop Kenneth Obi who is the Edo State Jurisdictional Prelate of the Church of God in Christ urged the inhabitants of Edo State who have been or will be victims of poor rood construction to speak up and hold the government accountable, “since it is the government’s responsibility to look after the welfare of its citizens and provide an excellent infrastructure for better living.”
