Response to Atiku Abubakar’s diatribe on unconstitutionality of zoning

‘It’s 419’ — Wike dismisses PDP-APM alliance, says Makinde’s presidential bid dead on arrival

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Prince John Mayaki, has described fiction writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie as a liar and “one of the biggest fans of separatist agitators known as IPOB.”

Mayaki urged the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, to bring legal action against Adichie, for amplifying the unproven claim that he was complicit in the alleged rigging of the 2023 presidential election after receiving “an astronomical US-dollar amounts” from the winner of the election.

He said it was important for the INEC Chairman to assert his innocence and protect the credibility of the electoral body by compelling promoters of “fake, damaging reports” to provide evidence of their claims through legal means.

“The fictional writer, Chimamanda, threw a stone and tried to hide her hands. She inserted the fictitious lie that the INEC Chairman received sums of money from the winner of the presidential election under the pretext of reporting the beliefs of many, even if the following sentence debunked the claim with the explanation that no proof or evidence of the allegation exists,” he said.

“If no evidence of the claim exists, why include it in the angry diatribe? The likely answer, of course, is that it was a deliberate attempt to injure the reputation of the electoral body and dent the credibility of the process.

“It is important that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, doesn’t let people get away with these slanderous lies. Chimamanda took a talking point from the Obi-dient cesspool of lies, distortions, and bizarre conspiracies and amplified it on a global platform in pursuit of a contrived victory for Mr. Peter Obi who not only lost the election but came a distant third. It is condemnable and must draw a serious reaction from the affected, particularly INEC.”

He also slammed Chimamanda for exhibiting the colonial mindset she criticized in the letter, noting the contradiction of criticizing foreign powers for holding Nigeria and Africa to low standards while inviting the same bodies to mediate in a local issue.

Mayaki said, “this same writer should not be taken seriously because she had already confessed that she “routinely lie” about issues when she gave the Class day address to the Harvard Class of 2018.

“According to her, ‘before I tell you about not lying, I must first admit to lying. I routinely lie about my height even at the doctor’s office. In Lagos, when am meeting friends for meetings, I lie about being stuck in traffic while at home getting dressed…’ I therefore challenge Chimamanda to agree to lying in her letter to the President of the United States – being a routine lair.

“Her fantastic lie as contained in that letter and lack of courage to tell the truth about the crisis in her region of South-East has shown her to be one of the biggest fans of separatist agitators known as IPOB. At least, we now know where her support lies. I’m quite convinced Chimamanda would be unable to sleep well at night having had her integrity bruised by her lies to the US President.”
