Early on Wednesday morning, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, restored Comrade Philip Shaibu to his position as deputy governor of Edo State on the strength of what Justice James Omotosho, who delivered judgment in the case, said was illegal, unconstitutional, null and void action.
Just as the information filtered into the state that the court also ordered that the Inspector General of Police(IGP) should restore Comrade Shaibu’s security as the deputy governor of the state, commercial bus drivers in their hundreds drove down to the new office space on Osadebey Avenue that the deputy governor was allocated in the wake of the crisis that culminated in Comrade Shaibu’s impeachment.
The bus drivers strategically placed their vehicles on the long stretch of the road in readiness to “receive” him. After hours of endless waiting and the restored deputy governor was no where to be found, the drivers, on whose buses were emblazoned the poster of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) governorship standard bearer, Asue Ighodalo, congregated at the civil service club premises located nearby to gulp some drinks and wet their taste bud with available delicacies even as they continue the wait.
