The Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) Worldwide is insisting that Jethro Ibileke of PM News should make amends for his action in reporting a one sided story of which he had no substantial evidence or knowledge of.

His report is one side as he didn’t ask questions to know what really happened and to give Ambassador Curtis Ugbo the fair hearing he deserved in line with the journalism creed.

For him to write that Ambassador Ugbo lied against Barrister Olayiwola Afolabi is begging the question because the lawyer actually confirmed to the Police that he went to Oko Prison to see Johnson Asteleghe over a case Ambassador Ugbo agreed to pay him N10 million to prosecute the said Asteleghe in a kidnap/murder case while the said Asteleghe was in detention over the case.

Was that an ethical thing to do as a lawyer? And is Jethro aware that Ambassador Ugbo already forwarded a petition to the Secretary, National Judicial Council (NJC) Disciplinary Committee against Barrister Afolabi that is presently being looked into?

These are part of the settlement resolve that made Barrister Afolabi withdrew his earlier petition against Ambassador Ugbo at the AIG zone 5 and the Federal High Court.

It has also been discovered that Jethro is working in cahoot with one Joseph Kanjo who publishes Infodaily and whose blogsite he has been using to attack Ambassador Ugbo since his outfit, PM News, is no longer available for him to do such jaundiced stories.

Ambassador Ugbo has instructed his lawyers to also sue the said Kanjo as a way of letting the world know the real story behind the Ambassador Ugbo and Barrister Afolabi issue.

The only way out for the two journalists – Jethro and Joseph – is that they should do the needful within the next 24 hours or else wait for the court to decide.

To Add that Afolabi agreed to the fact to the police that he went to see Johnson Asteleghe in Oko Prison and he said that Johnson Asteleghe offered him an envelope which he refused.
Who was there to confirm that he refused the envelope he was offered by Johnson Asteleghe? Was it ethical for Barrister Afolabi to visit Johnson Asteleghe at Oko Prison? Why was he offered an envelope?

How did Ambassador Curtis Ugbo now lied against Afolabi, when he (Afolabi) accepted in his petition and statement to the police at zone 5 headquarters?

Signed:

Mrs. Esohe Adun,
acting Secretary General,
Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) Worldwide
