The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has disowned one Dickson Imasogie, who at the official governorship aspiration declaration of Barrister Asue Ighodalo, on Wednesday held at the party’s secretatiat in Benin City, the Edo State capital, claimed to be the leader of party in Edo South.
In a statement signed by Anthony Ihimi, Secretary of the PDP in Edo South Senatorial District, the party warned Imasogie “to henceforth stop further impersonation and arrogation to himself the power and authority of Senatorial Leadership.”
The statement in parts went thus: “This is to rightly inform the public that Dickson Imasogie is not the senatorial leader of the PDP in Edo South, and as such, does not, and has never had the constitutional authority and mandate to speak on behalf of the PDP Edo South Senatorial District, its leadership, or its members.
“His statements were personal and for himself alone.
” The constitution of our party is very clear and unambiguous. The leadership of PDP Edo South District at this time is vested on Barrister Nosa Ogieva-Okunbor, the state Vice Chairman (South), who alone, in consultation with the leadership can make official statements on behalf of the district.”
Going further the party warned those it described as ‘selfish and self seeking politicians’ “to desist forthwith from making statements intended to mislead our teeming supporters and the general public.”
It would be recalled that Dickson Imasogie had endorsed and declared full support of Edo South Senatorial District for Barrister Ighodalo’s gubernatorial aspiration.
