Dr. Festus Alenkhe, Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has for the first time revealed the identity of his successor.

Addressing a gathering of journalists and friends of the media on the occasion of the 2025 edition of the Edo NUJ Christmas Carol and Musical Extravaganza held at the Council’s Secretariat in Benin City on Sunday evening Dr. Alenkhe informed the gathering that whoever is interested in succeeding him must be prepared to continue with his legacy programmes.

He charged the journalists to interrogate whoever comes to seek for their support if such a person is genuinely interested in continuing where he stopped.

He also appealed to the journalists to give the present administration in the state all the support it needs to deliver the dividends of good governance to the people. As journalists are duty bound to support delivery of good governance by any administration.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of high breed music by the Council’s Entertainment group to the delight of the gathering.

Some notable personalities on the high table to enjoy the high octane show were the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua; the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the state Governor, Patrick Akhere Ebojele; Felix Osagiede, a former Media Aide of former Governor Godwin Obaseki and some former executives of the Council.
