Breaking News: Alenkhe picks Edo NUJ chairmanship form, promises to play by the rules and regulations

Comrade Festus Alenkhe, who is gunning for the position of Chairman of the Edo State Council of the NUJ, has said that he is inspired to lead the union because of his desire to bring a positive change to the narrative of the journalism profession in the state.

Comrade Alenkhe promised to abide by the rules and regulations governing the union while ensuring that the polity is not heated up in the course of the run-up to the polls

He stated this when he came to the state secretariat of the Union to pick the Expression of Interest (EOI) form from the election Credentials Committee led by Peace Ifidon.

In her comments the chairman of the Committee, Peace Ifidon, promised to leave behind a legacy by ensuring that the election slated for December is devoid of rancour or suspicion.

She assured all the contestants that her committee will be fair to all and sundry by allowing for a level playing ground.

Ifidon appealed for caution while also charging that the constitution of the Union would be adhered to in all circumstances.

She also advised all and sundry to ensure that they are operating in tune with the dictates of the constitution as anybody who falls foul of it would be made to pay for the shortcomings.

Lastly, she assured that not minding some misconceptions being expressed in certain quarters the election would be held in December 2021.

Among the high networth members of the Union who accompanied Alenkhe to collect the form were leaders of the large majority of the chapels that make up the union in Edo State.
