Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has inaugurated a three man investigative panel on the allegations of misconduct against the suspended Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Council.
The panel is headed by a high court judge, Justice Abdullahi Mikhail, with Barrister Bala Marika and Alhaji Abubakar Salisu as members while Barrister Ibrahim Mohammed Babangida will serve as the Secretary of the panel.
The farmer Governor emphasised the importance of inaugurating the investigative panel in accordance with the provisions of the law. He urged the panel to be diligent, just, and transparent in getting to the crux of the issue. He pledged to give them the necessary support in carrying out their duties.
The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Barrister Nasiru Mu’azu had earlier explained that the inauguration of the investigative panel by the farmer Governor is in compliance with the provision of Section 31(3) of the Niger State Local Government Law 2001 (As Amended).
Terms of reference for the investigative panel are to investigate the allegations leveled against the suspended Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Council, to obtain and examine evidence, and to require that the evidence written or oral of any witness be made on oath or declaration, among others.
