My response to baseless, illogical allegations – By Abubakar Malami, SAN

Breaking: Timipre Sylva declared wanted by EFCC over $14.8m fraud allegation

Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor(aka Ultimate Equals), President of the One Love Foundation, has charged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to disband the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) if it does not arrest Hadi Sirika, the former Minister of Aviation.

“I hope that the present administration will disband the EFCC, the ICPC because any money invested there is a wasted money.

“The government should also look internally. Recently, some governors accused the EFCC of taking bribes.”

Going further, he stated: “Nigeria has become a comic book without ending. We have heard about FBI, KGB, Scotland Yard Police and other different international police organisations.

“When they investigate you, they will make sure the white paper is out. If you are corrupt, you go to jail. There is no compromise. Recently, Donald Trump was investigated for tax invasion. He was investigated for assaulting or molesting a woman and was convicted of it. In Nigeria, you will see evidence against Governors, against Ministers and yet nothing happens.

“If we have become a country without a law, certainly we are going to continue to celebrate criminals. Now, you have stories about how individuals like the Accountant General who stole a 100 billion and yet no punishment was not punished. Instead he rewarded himself by marrying an underage girl. He is not in jail. He only returned 30 billion and nothing had been heard about it.

”Another case is that of the Ikoyi scandal where public fund was recovered, and nobody or officials was questioned for it. Another similar case is that of the present EFCC boss for going to Saudi Arabia; spending an average of fifteen thousand dollars on every other day. Nobody was bold enough to continue to investigate him or tell him to step aside while he is replaced on his duty.

“There are lots of different cases of people using documents to defraud the Federal Government as regard to oil subsidy. A lot of them have been on trial yet nothing happen. The EFCC keeps making money, they only threatened ex-governors on how they would do this and that, yet no punishment all to the detriment of the citizens

“We will not be surprised that the former Police DSP who retired from Katsina built a whole village with our money by defrauding Nigeria. He even rented a plane in Ethiopia and painted it with Nigeria symbol and flag. As I speak now, the man is still not in jail neither has he been prosecuted. If this happens in America, he will go to jail for a hundred and thirty-eight years

“If we are going to change this country, we have to be serious to punishing governors, ministers and Presidents who amass the nation’s wealth.

“Nigeria is seen as a country where our police and EFCC leave their work to congratulate and even blow siren for the politicians that are supposed to be in jail, this is how we celebrate criminals in this country. The same Police and EFCC avoid the politicians that steal money to chasing the Yahoo boys.

“We, the citizens, are not happy as our politicians behave and the way the law execution firm refuse to work instead collecting bribes, shielding them.

“The case of Ekweremadu would have become the twisting one if it happened in Nigeria but the son of a common man suffer it all. This must stop now. This is how the complains started against SARS, until a nationwide protest was staged. We are pleading to the EFCC to start probing our politicians who have taken pleasure in syphoning public funds, especially Hadi Sirika, who must be arrested by the EFCC. Failure to get him arrested for embezzling government fund will make the ciitizem stage a big and successful protest against EFCC, ICPC as well as other law executing government agencies.”
