All Progressives Congress (APC) women leaders, in Edo South Senatorial District, have solidarised with and endorsed the aspiration of Lucky Imasuen, who just returned from Abuja where he had gone to purchase the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the state guber polls slated for September.
The gaily dressed women led by Barrister Itohan Osahon Edokpolo(the APC Women Leader in the Senatorial District) had stormed Imasuen’s magnificent mansion in Benin City in bubbly mood as their elated host present the forms to them for their perusal.
In her comment Barrister Edokpolo expressed joy at the move by Imasuen to secure the forms. She averred that Edo State at this point need Imasuen to steer the ship of the state.
“We want a governor that will respect women, honour women. When he was deputy governor he stood out for women. He supported us. I was one of the beneficiaries of his support for women when he was the deputy governor.
“He knows the importance of women. That’s why we are paying him the visit today to say congratulations. God almighty will be with him. He(God) will lead him. When he becomes governor he will protect the interest of Edo people.”
She charged the people of the state to give Imasuen their support “so that at the end of the day we shall have cause to glorify God.”
In his response Imasuen said: “the women of Edo South have spoken. I want to, from the bottom of my heart, appreciate this endorsement and I want to assure you that I have not taken your endorsement for granted.
“It’s a call to duty. I want to tell you all my supporters that beyond the primary election is the governorship election. Everyone of us that obtained these forms to contest the election is eminently qualified.”
He appealed to his supporters not to resort to using abusive language on other aspirants. Rather, he charged them to enumerate why they are convinced that he is the best in the pack.
Other APC women leaders who took part in the endorsement included Amb. Esther Kolade(Oredo Local Government), Princess Bola Eweka(Egor), Madam Aiviahenyo Victoria (Ovia South West), Princess Sonata Eweka(Ovia North East), Madam Rebecca Okunbor(Uhunmwode) and Madam Nekpen Enabulele(Orhionmwon).
