APC governors visit Tinubu, hold crucial meeting in Lagos ahead party primaries

Ahead of the party’s Governorship primaries scheduled for next month, 31 governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) are in crucial meeting in Lagos on the state of the nation.

The Governors converged on Eko Hotel, Victoria Island on Sunday, for the meeting which was earlier scheduled to hold in the afternoon. The governors had initially visited President Bola Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence to congratulate him on the successful state visit to the United Kingdom (UK) and the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.

As at 9.40 pm, only 21 out of the 31 governors have arrived for the all important meeting.

It was gathered that one of the key issues for deliberation is the focus on holding a rancour free, successful party’s primaries.

The Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Chief Hope Uzodimma is presiding over the meeting with Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, hosting.

At the meeting were: Mai Mala Buni, Yobe; Dapo Abiodun, Ogun; Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta; Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Ondo; Bassey Otu, Cross River; Agbo Kefas, Taraba; AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq, Kwara; Monday Okpebholo, Edo.

Others include: Umo Eno, Awka Ibom; Ahmadu Sule, Nasarawa; Siminalayi Fubara, Rivers; Usman Ododo, Kogi; Francis Nwifuru, Ebonyi; Caleb Mutfwang, Plateau; Abba Yusuf, Kano; Umaru Bago, Niger; Peter Mbah, Enugu; Namadi Umar, Jigawa; Dikko Umaru, Katsina and Douye Diri, Bayelsa.

The forum is however, expected to issue a communique at the end of the meeting.
