‘It’s 419’ — Wike dismisses PDP-APM alliance, says Makinde’s presidential bid dead on arrival

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Egor Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State is enmeshed in crisis as leaders of the party in the locality have suspended Barrister Henry Idahagbon, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state.

In a letter that the aggrieved party leaders forwarded to the leader of the party in the state, Senator elect Adams Oshiomhole, Idahagbon was among others accused of anti-party activities.

Some of the grounds of the suspension of Barrister Idahagbon according to the party leaders is “that Barrister Henry Idahagbon encouraged sponsored and openly aided aspirants against the party and devoted his chambers to challenge and file an action in court against the party which said case’s in suit no. FHC/13/CO/52/21 against the party without first exhausting all avenues for redress as enshrined in the hallowed provisions of our party’s constitution. This of course is in contravention of article 21: xi of APC Constitution.

“That Barrister Henry Idahagbon who has benefited immensely from the party’s goodwill and uncommon kindness has treacherously insisted that he would not support or participate in any activity involving the Party until the duo of Col. David Imuse and Engr. Lawrence Okah JP both State Chairman and State Secretary respectively vacate their office. It is on record that he forwarded an SMS to the state chairman, Col. David Imuse (RTD) stating that he was no longer interested in the party to the extent that he removed himself as an admin and exited the Edo State APC Whatsapp platform. Facts abounds to buttress the point that at different instances and occasions in which he has been invited to party meetings, he has treated such invitation with disdain and in certain extreme situations in line with his nature and character, insulted and outrightly blocked all sources with which he could be further reached. This no doubt contravenes article 21: vii of APC Constitution

“That prior to the Presidential, National and House of Assembly Elections, it is on record that invitations were extended to all strata of leaders and stakeholders of the party including Barrister Henry Idahagbon to offer themselves as instruments to ensure victory for our party, he did not only rebuff advances made to him to participate in our party’s campaign he persistently made mockery of the zeal and enthusiasm of members of APC describing our great party as a dead party with little or no prospect of revival. This again contravenes article 21:ii of APC Constitution

“That we have irrefutable facts, that Barrister Henry Idahagbon did not vote in the fast elections. This fact was further reechoed by his ward chairman, Mr. Nosa Oviarobo at an enlarged meeting of APC Egor, LGA. Instead he was busy hob-nobbing with PDP leaders whom he severally mingled with and was seen in a political meeting at the GRA residence of the Esama of Benin Kingdom (Grandfather to the PDP House of Assembly candidate, Natasha lyobosa Osawaru). Amongst other PDP stalwarts few days to the elections (see article 21:ii of APC Constitution).”

However, responding to the action of the party leaders, Barrister Idahagbon said: “There is nothing special to it. It is just an April Fool joke coming at the end of April.”
