An Osun-based philanthropist and politician, Chief Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, popularly known as APATA, has reaffirmed his commitment to progressive politics following a strategic engagement with the Osun State chapter of the Tinubu/Shettima Global Support Group (TSGSG), in what observers describe as a significant step towards strengthening political structures ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.

TSGSG, a political advocacy organisation led globally by Engr. Mohammed Awal Ibrahim, maintains a structured presence across Nigeria, with additional chapters in the diaspora, including the United States.

The group has remained active in mobilising grassroots and international support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, while also promoting the administration’s policies and achievements to both domestic and global audiences.

Speaking with journalists after the closed-door meeting, Chief Ogundeji described the visit as timely and strategic, noting that enduring political success is built on unity, organisation and shared ideological commitment.

Chief Ogundeji commended the operational depth of the group, particularly its grassroots structure across wards and local government areas in Osun State, as well as its national and diaspora advocacy network.

“I am greatly encouraged by the visit of the Tinubu/Shettima Global Support Group. Their organisational reach from the grassroots to the diaspora demonstrates the seriousness required to sustain progressive politics. True political growth begins with the people and expands through strong structures,” he said.

The Osun West senatorial aspirant further stated that his political aspiration is firmly anchored in the progressive philosophy championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

“I remain a proud progressive. I believe strongly in the leadership vision of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima. The Renewed Hope Agenda represents reform, productivity and national renewal. With my background in engineering and enterprise, I understand that genuine transformation requires structure, courage and continuity,” he added.

Chief Ogundeji welcomed the group’s declaration of support for his aspiration to secure the party’s senatorial ticket for Osun West and his eventual emergence as senator in the 2027 general election, describing the endorsement as a call to greater responsibility.

According to him, political support should extend beyond electoral victories to include a shared commitment to development and service to the people.

“If entrusted with the mandate of our party and the good people of Osun West, my focus will remain on empowerment, infrastructure advocacy, youth productivity and enterprise development,” he noted.

He also expressed readiness for deeper collaboration between the APATA Political Movement and TSGSG in mobilising organised grassroots support, particularly in advancing the second-term ambition of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.

Chief Ogundeji further pledged to deploy his political influence in support of the governorship aspiration of Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15.

“As progressives, we must speak with one voice. I will give my full support to ensure the success of Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji. Consolidating progressive leadership at the state level ultimately strengthens our national direction,” he said.

He emphasised that the proposed collaboration between his political movement and the support group would be anchored on discipline, effective mobilisation and strategic engagement across wards and local government areas.

“The progressive family must remain united. When we stand together, we become stronger and more effective in advancing our collective goals,” he stated.

Chief Ogundeji, who holds the traditional title of Oluomo of Gbotaru in Ido-Osun, concluded by urging party faithful and stakeholders in Osun West to prioritise unity and cooperation over internal divisions, stressing that the political journey towards 2027 would be defined by competence, loyalty and organised grassroots engagement.

“We must build bridges, not walls. The future of Osun West lies in purposeful representation that aligns with national development efforts. That is the true path of progress,” he said.

A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of a large portrait of Chief Ogundeji by the delegation, alongside a formal letter proposing collaboration between the APATA Movement and the Tinubu/Shettima Global Support Group in Osun West Senatorial District.

The group also expressed its readiness to merge its grassroots structure with the APATA Movement and requested that Chief Ogundeji serve as its adviser in the district as part of efforts to strengthen political mobilisation and alliance ahead of the senatorial race.
