Akhakhon Anenih, son of the late National Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tony Akhakhon Anenih, is a joyous man as his father’s leadership role in Esan land and indeed in the nation’s political firmament was reiterated with a posthumous award at the Esan Hall of Fame held inside the Kenneth Imansuangbon Hall in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State, last weekend.

In an exclusive chat, Akhakhon said: “I feel elated, I feel fulfilled that his own people are able to appreciate the sacrifices that he made. If you recollect my father never one day brought out any of his kids or relations to take any elective position or give them any board appointment.

“I wish that was also mentioned in politics of being a leader because a true leader has to be selfless. A true leader has to put other people’s needs before his own needs.

“I am honoured that my father was honoured today. Again, he has left a wide vacuum that we hope and pray that we will be able to match or surpass in time to come.”

Going further, Akhakhon, who is a politician like his late dad was, canvassed for support for his brother, Ose, who is eyeing a House of Representatives seat in 2023.

“My younger brother, Ose, is vying for a House of Representatives seat in 2023. I hope and pray that Esan people will come out and support him.

“I also pray and use this opportunity to hope that the old ones among us would take a bow and allow the youths to take the mantle and pilot Esan land to the greatest height that they can achieve.”
