All you must know about Festus Alenkhe, the man about to lead Edo NUJ

Festus Alenkhe was born into the family of Alenkhe of Okhuesan Community, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. 

At different times he attended Arinze Primary School and Niger College in Benin City then Utoka Grammar School, Ovia North-East Local Government Area, where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC).He also attended College of Education, Ekiadolor, where he read English/Linguistics. 

Festus Alenkhe, who holds a Diploma Certificate in Broadcast Journalism from New York Film Academy, also attended the University of Benin where he bagged a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies and Diplomacy (B.A.). 

He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism, IIJ, affiliated to the University of Maiduguri.

Widely travelled Festus Alenkhe is a Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP) following his religious visits to Rome, Israel, Jericho, Greece, Bethlehem, Jordan and Egypt. He is a Peace Ambassador, courtesy of the Universal Peace Federation. 

He is a Controller (News), Edo Broadcasting Service(EBS), Benin City. His media experience which has benefited the entire Nigerian society and Nigerians in diaspora through key programmes – Crime Watch and Crime Alert – have span over two decades.

Dogged and unrelenting, Festus has embarked on Crime News investigative visits to Austria, Italy, Spain, France, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and United States of America where he did a special report on the assassination of the former President of America, John Fritzgerald Kennedy with a visit to the spot where he was assassinated in Dallas Texas, USA.

Festus is a resource person to the core. He loves his job with all passion and believes in engaging the youths towards having a crime free Nigerian society where peace, security, justice, progress and development would reign.

Festus Alenkhe was the chairman National youth council of Nigeria, Edo state Chapter, Chairman, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Edo state Branch. 

He was chairman, Students Representatives Council, College of Education, Ekiadolor. He was also speaker of the Students Union Government, College of Education, Ekiadolor and a Chief of the Kegites Club International. 

Former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, as a reward for Festus Alenkhe’s steadfastness appointed him as a  member of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee in the state. 

He is the Vice Chairman of Edo State Agency for the Prevention of HIV/AIDS and also a member of the Risk Pillar Edo State Covid-19 prevention team.

He holds a certificate in Paediatric Art from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). His trophy shelf is filled with a legion of awards which he got from within and outside Edo State courtesy of his addiction to doing his job to near perfection.

He holds a certificate in Radio/TV news reporting from the Consular General of the United States of America Embassy in Nigeria.

The unassuming journalist is a sports lover with a soft spot for news commentary. He is an author with a book titled “Crime Watch” – a security mirror of the Nigerian society.
