Alenkhe’s message of goodwill on Easter

Comrade Festus Alenkhe, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Edo State Council, has sent a message of felicitation to Christians and non-Christians alike as the world celebrate Easter.

According to the statement, “Easter celebration signifies the resurrection of Jesus Christ who confirmed that ‘it is finished’. An indication that all our intending pains, trouble and problems have ended at the Cross of Crucification.”

In the message, Comrade Alenkhe urged the people to rejoice in the gift of salvation and the promise of new beginnings. He wished and prayed that the people of Edo State experience the beauty of God’s Grace and the joy of Jesus Christ’s resurrection. 

The message also said Good Friday and Easter Sunday are sacred days marked by reflection, remembrance and celebrations encapsulating the core tenets of the Christian faith.  

Comrade Alenkhe said Easter celebration heralds the joyous culmination of Easter story, Jesus resurrection from the dead as it is a day of jubilation and triumph, symbolizing victory over sin and death. He said Jesus resurrection offers believers  the promise of new life, hope and eternal salvation. 

As the Edo 2024 Governorship election draws nearer, Comrade Alenkhe called for peace and understanding before, during and after the election as he appealed to politicians to play by electioneering rules.

He called on journalists in Edo State to reject news reports  that will throw the state into crises and tension but ensure continuous balanced reportage at all times.
