Alenkhe condoles with Edo NUJ over Ahmed Aigbona’s death

Festus Alenkhe, the leading contender for the chairmanship race of the Edo NUJ poll coming up later this year, has sent a condolence message to the outgoing chairman of the union, Roland Osakue, on the death of Comrade Ahmed Aigbona, a sports writer.

In the letter, Alenkhe said: “I write to extend my condolence to the chairman, executive members, state executive committee, congress and members of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) over the sudden death of the former chairman of the Edo State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ahmed Aigbona.

“The news of Mr. Aigbona’s death on Sunday, 15th August, 2021, came to me as a rude shock.

“Late Ahmed Aigbona was a great sports analyst who contributed immensely to sports journalism in the country. His absence will be greatly missed.

“I join other media colleagues in the country to pray that Allah forgive him of all his sins and grant him eternal rest.

“I take solace in the fact that Ahmed Aigbona came, saw and squat peacefully to conquer as he has today put his name in the annals of sports development In Nigeria, using the media.

“Mr. Chairman, l hereby condole you and all NUJ members in Edo State.”
