The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele, has hailed the appointment of Moses Opuamowei Aduku as the new Head Coach of Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s National Team (the Falconets) as a clear testament to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s unwavering commitment to sports development, particularly women’s football.

Enabulele credited Governor Okpebholo’s instrumental support for Edo Queens Football Club as a major catalyst for Aduku’s elevation to the national stage.

“Governor Monday Okpebholo’s steadfast support for Edo Queens FC continues to produce outstanding results. The appointment of Moses Aduku as Head Coach of the Falconets is further proof of his passion for the growth of women’s football in Nigeria,” Enabulele said.

He noted that within a short period in office, Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to sports development has already yielded tangible results, including the recent call-up of Edo Queens’ Miracle Usani to the Super Falcons, and now, Aduku’s national appointment.

“I am confident that with Governor Okpebholo’s continued support, Edo Queens and Nigerian women’s football will attain even greater heights,” he added.

Describing Aduku’s appointment as well-deserved, Enabulele praised the coach’s dedication and technical prowess, noting that his track record speaks volumes.

“Aduku led Edo Queens to their first-ever Nigeria Women’s Football League(NWFL) title in May 2024 and guided them to victory in the WAFU Zone B Championship. These accomplishments have cemented Edo Queens’ dominance in both Nigerian and West African women’s football,” he said.

Enabulele also recalled Aduku’s prior national team experience, highlighting his role as assistant coach to the Nigeria U-20 women’s team that reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in 2022.

“Highly respected for his results-driven approach and resilience, Aduku brings a wealth of experience to the role, and I am confident he will excel as Falconets coach,” Enabulele stated.

He further commended the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), especially its President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, for the appointment.

“I applaud the NFF for recognizing excellence. Coach Aduku’s winning mentality and proven track record make him the ideal choice. I have no doubt that he will lead the Falconets to greater glory,” Enabulele concluded.
