Director of Mobilisation and Contact of the Labour Party (LP) in the Diaspora, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor (aka Ultimate Equals), has vehemently refuted the rumour making the rounds that the party’s National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, is in detention having allegedly been arrested earlier today.

In a telephone chat, Chief Eholor said: “I don’t know where these renegades get their story from. The story that Barrister Abure has been arrested is totally false. He was in court with many of us, including the party’s candidate at the last Presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi, this morning.

“He is hale and hearty and was very conspicuous in the court room today. So it sounds funny to me to now hear that he was arrested. That’s the height of fallacy. There is no truth in it.

“Barrister Abure has a retinue of security operatives surrounding him. If there is any issue regarding arresting him they are all in a better position to do that but nothing of such transpired.

“For me, I think it is high time we stop this busy body, backbiting and hatred that is being spread all around town. We are better served in an atmosphere of brotherly love, peace and togetherness. Anything contrary to that will not serve us any good.”

Further confirming that Barrister Abure is safe and sound was one of his aides, who prefers anonymity and, who in a statement on Friday night said: “It’s not true. We are doing okay and having a political meeting at the moment. Thanks for your concern. Good evening.”
