AAU Alumni Association disowns ‘PRO’

Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Alumni Association Worldwide has disowned one Pastor Joseph Obaro Ikupa for his claim in an online publication that there is no faction in the association and that he is the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association.

In a Press Statement the association asserted that Pastor Ikupa of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries “applied for the position of Publicity Secretary in the last election claiming membership of Ozoro branch and was disqualified for not meeting up with the constitutional requirements of that office.

“In the said on-line publication, he claims to be the PRO of the Alumni Association worldwide. For the records, the alumni Constitution does not recognize PRO but Publicity Secretary. It is therefore laughable for Ikupa to claim to have assumed a position he was disqualified for?

“Part of Ikupa’s on-line publication reads: ‘As far as the current executive is concerned we are not in court with anybody. There is no litigation pending in any court against the association’s executive anywhere in Nigeria.’

“Ordinarily, one would have ignored this but for the misinformation and shameless lie being peddled by this Pastor Joseph Obaro Ikupa who is obviously a disgrace to the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, we are compelled to respond.”

Going further, the association maintained that “there is no executive council in place outside the last executive led by Dave Emankunu Esq.
We therefore ask the public to disregard Pastor Ikupa’s unfounded false publication as it is misleading. There is currently a case in a Benin High court with Suit No. B/250 05/2022.

“Take note that available verifiable records are in public domain that the so-called Pastor Joseph Obaro Ikupa who now claims to be a member of Ozoro branch of AAU Alumni Association was sacked as Warri branch Chairman in 2021 for embezzlement of public funds and other corrupt practices amounting to gross misconduct.

“Ikupa and his co travellers are aware of the pending court case in a Benin High Court in which his Principal, Clifford Omozeghian the branchless Alumnus and self- acclaimed Worldwide President and others sued, are represented by a counsel. We are therefore not ready to join issues with Ikupa who is claiming to be what he is not in the said on-line publication on a case currently pending in Court.”
