Edo State Joint Security Taskforce has continued strict enforcement of the state-wide 10pm to 6am curfew imposed by the government to check the activities of hoodlums and criminals following the hijack of the #EndSARS protests in the state.

The Taskforce, including the Army, Police and other sister security agencies, at the weekend raided some hotels and clubs in the metropolitan city violating the curfew to ensure strict compliance.

Prior to the operation, General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Major General Anthony Omozoje, had intimated Governor Godwin Obaseki on their activity in the state, who charged the security agencies to reinforce the curfew to check the activities of hoodlums and criminals in order to restore peace and order in the state.

They had also raided the Upper Sakponba area of Benin City and combed riverine communities, leading to the arrest of suspected kidnappers terrorising the state.

Similarly, in a statement on Monday, Major Ojo Adenegan, Assistant Director Army Public Relations, released help lines for the ongoing Exercise Crocodile Smile VI/Edo State Joint Security Operation.

According to him, the numbers, 08079831567 and 08079839190, are help lines for useful information on any breach of security in Edo State in order to activate quick response. Major Adenegan noted that the help lines are operational 24/7.

He said: “In continuation of Exercise Crocodile Smile VI and Edo State Joint Security Operation which are to checkmate criminal activities in the State, the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army is using this medium to remind the general public that above help lines are for useful information on   any breach of security in Edo State in order to activate quick response.”
