A High Court in Edo State, sitting in Benin City, has struck out a charge against a former Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) Benin Branch, Douglas Ogbankwa Esq.
This followed a nolle prosequi filed by Samson Raphael Osagie, the Attorney General of Edo State, in charge No. B/CD/60C/2025, dated 4th August, 2025.
This followed an application made by Mrs. Stella Okojie, a Director in the Edo State Ministry of Justice, leading other lawyers. Ogbankwa, who appeared for himself, did not oppose the application.
The matter was eventually struck out by the Presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Helen Ogbevoen, ending 18 months of legal battle between the state and the lawyer.
In a comment after the striking out of the case Douglas Ogbankwa Esq indicated that he has been vindicated after the politically motivated charge fueled by the outgone government of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
“The law has eventually taken its course and justice is served in this matter,” Ogbankwa concluded.
