The Executive Chairman Edo State Sports Commission, Olympian Yussuf Alli, has urged Edo youths to embrace eSports, stressing that eSports is a game of high intelligence, entertainment and genuine money making venture, capable of creating huge employment opportunities for young people.
The Edo State Sports Commission boss made the call during the inauguration ceremony of Edo State eSports Association(ESEA) at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the Executive of the eSports Association headed by Daro Dean Bezi as Chairman, Alli assured the new sports association in Edo State of support, adding that his board is willing to support any association and venture whose activities are meant to create a genuine source of income and improve the lives of Edo youths.
“I think it is time for us to follow eSports and I will encourage our youths in Edo State to embrace the game. It is worth venturing into. I assure you of our support as long as it is something that our people will benefit from. We need something for youth engagement and we are willing to expand the scope of things that will make our youth gainfully employed and out of the street,” he emphasized.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the newly inaugurated Edo State eSports Association, Daro Dean Bezi, highlighted the benefits of the eSports to include money making, international exposure high intelligence quotient development and other economic and psychological gains.
He appealed for support from the Edo State Sports Commission and the media to help popularize eSports in Edo State as it is in Lagos and elsewhere in South and North Africa.
