The Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele, says he is proud to support Bolade Bezi as she undertakes 48-hour marathon “God of War” video game series in her attempt to set a new Guinness World Record.
Enabulele was speaking when the Chairman of Edo e-Sports Association, Ovebedaro Dean Bezi and his executive introduced the contender, Bolade, to him in his office at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
Enabulele said that he is impressed with the progress of e-Sports in Edo State and assured them of support while also urging Edo youths particularly students to take advantage of the new and virtual games.
”We are always willing to encourage our youth to engage in meaningful ventures such as e-Sports which serve as a powerful platform for personal empowerment and development capable of taking them away from social vices.
”I call on well-meaning Nigerians and supporters of youth development to rally behind Bolade Bezi and her quest to achieve this remarkable feat in virtual gaming. Congratulations in advance, Champ,” he said.
The event is scheduled for Friday, July 25 at the Media Centre, Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City. Kick off time is 10:00 am.
Bolade Bezi, a gamer under the Edo State e-Sports Association, is undertaking a rigorous path to Guinness World Record attempt for the longest video game marathon playing a hack-and-slash game.
Bolade, a Clinical Physiologist, is making the world record attempts to raise awareness for mental health in relation to depression and anxiety which are the two prevalent mental disorders in modern societies. She intends to play for 48 hours in her quest to break the previous record of 24 hours 55 mins.
The longest videogame marathon on a hack-and-slash game is 24 hours, 25 minutes, 00 seconds, and was achieved by Peer Bresser and Jimmie Smets (Germans) on the set of Pro7 Games, in Cologne, Germany, on 8th-9th, November 2017.
