Such a blackmail is not enough to bring the Sports Commission Chairman down – Response to Stephen Keshi Football and Vocational Training Centre’s grouse

Second round first leg match of the 2023 CAF Confederation Cup contest between home team, Bendel Insurance FC of Benin City and their Moroccan opponents, RS Berkane, played on Saturday evening at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium ended 2 goals apiece.

The match, which was characterized by very anxious moments as a result of a heavy downpour before and during the course of the encounter, was watched by a large crowd who stormed the venue almost three hours ahead of the 4.00pm kickoff time.

The flood gate of goals was opened by the home team in the 29th minute through their utility player, Imade Osarenkhoe after lashing onto the ball when the Moroccan goal tender had a difficult time holding firmly to the ball during a melee in his 18 yard box.

It became a ding dong affair as the water logged portions of the field became problem spots for the players of the two teams. And by the 38 minute the visitors equalized after a goal mouth scramble for the ball ended in their advantage.

In the second half the Coach Monday Odigie tutored Insurance came in rejuvenated having been given valuable pep talk during the 15 minutes break. Their second goal came at exactly 61st minute of the game through Vincent Augustus.

Not giving up hope of securing a draw in the match the Moroccans secured their second equalizing goal in the 78th minute. Thereafter, the Moroccans desirous of ensuring that the match ended in a draw resorted to employing delay tactics to achieve their game plan until the end of the game after 5 minutes added by the centre referee as injury time.
