Commander of the Edo State Taskforce, SP Michael Anetor, has reiterated that his team is working round the clock to sanitise and secure the state in line with the mantra of Governor Monday Okpebholo to make the state safe and conducive for everyone.
“We are trying to make Edo State safe for all and sundry in line with the mantra of Governor Monday Okpebholo that the state would be made conducive for business to thrive.
“We all know how they have turned that axis(Ring Road) to a market place. Ring Road is not a market. We have places that are markets and can be used as such. Also commercial bus drivers have turned the place to a motor park where they solicit for passengers.
“Addressing these issues motivated my team, the Taskforce, to storm the place so as to correct the wrongs, clear the place of the illegalities being perpetrated there by a horde of people.
“My assurance is that the clearing of the place is going to be a continuous exercise to sanitise the place, bring it back as a decent environment and a place to appreciate as it used to be some years ago.
“We will continue to go there on a daily basis until those that are constituting a crowd there get tired and relocate to the right market place to do their business there. There are places designated as market places they should all go there to avoid been harassed or embarrassed.
“From what I have seen the traders will get tired soon and do the right thing in line with the dreams of Governor Okpebholo to have a sane society devoid of misdemeanor and other negative attributes.”
Reacting to complaints that the Public Safety Response(PSR) Team which was given the task of clearing the mess at Ring Road under performed a situation that led to the hullabaloo there, Anetor said, “there were lots of stories going around that the traders were not obeying the instructiona of the PSR Team operatives.
“Maybe their mode of operation is not effective or they are not addressing the issues appropriately. We have stepped in and we are doing much to correct some of the misrepresentations or misgivings flying about.”
