We want to catch them young, build their career -Academy Proprietor

The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Norrod Abbott Global Football Academy, slated for official unveiling on Friday, 18th July at the ultra-modern Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Onoriode Onyen, has stated that the Academy will offer great opportunities to young footballers and chart a strategic pathway to ensure that the players are thought and groomed into actualizing their dreams of becoming successful footballers.

According to him: “You will agree with me that Nigeria is blessed with great football talents. Norrod Abbott Global Football Academy will be highly structured in such a way that will equal our counterparts in Europe.

“Our aim and objectives is to provide a conducive environment for our young talented football players to excel. Our focus is to catch them young and help them build their career in such a way that will guarantee their future.”

Launched in January 2025, in Benin City the Academy is aimed at taking talented youths football players off the street and build them into becoming useful to themselves and the society.

Going further, he averred: “The players will also have the opportunity to combine education with football so that at the end of their football career, they have something to fall back to. Again, from time to time, international football scouts will be invited from Europe for scouting programme where players will be selected for trials abroad.

“I want to say that everything needed for us to have a successful programme in football Academy have been put in place. The official unveiling ceremony will take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Friday, 18th July.

“Dignitaries and major stakeholders in the round leather game will be around to grace the occasion.”
