Chief Patrick Eholor, human rights crusader and President of the One Love Foundation, a non-profit organization, has described as an abomination the recent incident during the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration when a pigeon that President Muhammadu Buhari released refused to fly as a sign of peace.
“You saw what happened some days ago when we were honouring our fallen heroes and a pigeon that was released and was supposed to fly did not but was rather looking at President Muhammadu Buhari.
“That’s a bad omen. It is an abomination. We have a problem in this country. The elites have sold us. We are living on borrowed culture.
“We are living on what they call copy and paste. Nigeria wants to buy vaccine worth millions of naira. We have been having malaria fever which we have not been able to eradicate.
”If I travel to Canada or America and I have fever they will quarantine me as they don’t want me to spread it. We have not been able to fight malaria fever. We have lassa fever in this country. We have not been able to find a cure for it.
“We are talking of Covid-19. It is synonymous to malaria fever. The reason that you hear of the high death rate in America is because the people there have some terminal sickness like cancer, diabetics, high blood pressure etc.
“We are known to be able to resist stress and that’s why we survive Covid-19. I am not saying that there is no Covid-19. There is Covid-19 but it will not affect us the same way that it is affecting the white people.”
Going further, he stated: “What we should have done is to take the money we want to use to procure vaccine to build well equipped hospitals; pay Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) so that they can call of their strike action; recognise the importance of health workers by offering them attractive salaries and reduce the jumbo pay of some politicians.”
On the incoming US President, Joe Biden, Eholor said, “something must be wrong with Nigeria. Look at Joe Biden’s appointments. You have three brilliant Nigerians in that cabinet. In America today, the highest paid black immigrants are Nigerians.
“In Nigeria we don’t have volcanic disaster or earthquake. What we have is leadership disaster.”
