The Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports(NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu, has once again congratulated the Super Falcons for their superlative performance against the Lionesses of Morocco in the finals of the Women Africa Nation Cup(WAFCON) 2024.
Comrade Shaibu said the Super Falcons of Nigeria have once again etched their name in African football history, clinching the 2024 WAFCON title in a thrilling final on Saturday.
The NIS boss fulfilled his promise of going to Morocco to cheer up the Nigerian ladies in the final match showdown held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco where Nigeria defeated the host nation after a dramatic 3-2 comeback.
The ex- Bendel Insurance FC player commended the technical crew of the Super Falcons, the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) and the Mallam Shehu Dikko led National Sports Commission(NSC) for their efforts in achieving the set target of Mission X.
The win marks Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title, extending their record as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
