Veteran actress found dead

A veteran actress in Kannywood, the Hausa-language film industry, Saratu Gidado, popularly known as Daso, has died.

According to her family members, she was found dead in her apartment on this morning April 9.

The relatives said Daso had gone back to sleep after Sahur, the early-morning Muslim breakfast for those observing the Ramadan fast, but was later found dead.

Daso who died at the age of 56, was born on 17 January, 1968 in the city of Kano.

She was particularly known for the comical roles she played as an aggressive and mischievous woman. She made her debut in 2000 in a movie titled Linzami Da Wuta, produced by Sarauniya Movies.
