Comrade Titus Akhigbe, a chairmanship candidate in the Edo NUJ 2024 election, has handed over his response to the petition against his aspiration.
In the response forwarded to Comrade Oliver Ijiogbe, Chairman of the Election Credentials Committee, on Monday afternoon, Comrade Akhigbe stated that the petitioner, one Eben Enasco, who works with Silverbird Communications, “is not a qualified journalist and does not have what it takes to write and sign the petition in question and as far as am concerned, he is a meddlesome interloper, that should be ignored.”
Going further, Comrade Akhigbe intoned: “Besides, his organization, Silverbird Communications, doesn’t involve in NUJ Unionism and we are all aware of this fact. On what basis is he now writing against union members?
“Eben Enasco also mentioned in his ill-fated petition, that one of my sponsors, Comrade Isaac Olamikan, a member of Merit Chapel is not qualified. Isaac Olamikan is a full-fledged member of NUJ, who complied with all the provisions of our Constitution. I already attached his documents to my form and equally sent your committee soft copies.”
According to Comrade Akhigbe, a two time Secretary of the Edo State Council of the NUJ, “Lets face it, the petitioner claimed his name is Eben Enasco, abi? He should be investigated because that is not his name and like I said earlier, he is not fit to write petition against anyone.”

RESPONSE TO EBEN ENASCO’s MINDLESS PETITION AGAINST MY CANDIDACY FOR THE CHAIRMANSHIP POSITION OF EDO NUJ
I am Titus Akhigbe, a member of the Correspondents Chapel of Edo NUJ running for the Chairmanship position of the council come December 2024. I had earlier attached relevant documents backing my candidacy to my form, which was duly submitted to the electoral committee, ably headed by you.
Based on what I submitted, I complied reasonably with the provisions of Articles 4 (1a); 6 (7b, e) of the union’s Constitution (as amended) having paid my professional/practicing fees and the union’s identity card was issued to me on January 1st 2024. My membership number is NUJ/10278/2000.
For the records, am aware the petitioner, Mr. Eben Enasco, who works for Silverbird Communications is not a qualified journalist and does not have what it takes to write and sign the petition in question and as far as am concerned, he is a meddlesome interloper, that should be ignored. Besides, his organization, Silverbird Communications doesn’t involve in NUJ Unionism and we are all aware of this fact. On what basis is he now writing against union members?

Lets face it, the petitioner claimed his name is Eben Enasco, abi? He should be investigated because that is not his name and like I said earlier, he is not fit to write petition against anyone, not to talk of Comrade Titus Akhigbe, fondly called Team Player. For the records, Titus Akhigbe is a two-term Secretary of Edo NUJ.
Attached are photocopies of receipt of payment of professional/practicing fees and identity card duly issued by the National Secretariat of NUJ.
