The Deputy National President(DNP) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde, has prayed that the Lord will comfort Comrade Titus Akhigbe and his children.

Dr. Oyetunde on behalf of the national leadership of the NUJ had led a delegation to condole with Comrade Akhigbe, a former Secretary of the Edo State Council of the union over the sudden and heartbreaking loss of his beloved wife, Irene. The visit was marked by prayers, words of comfort and a strong show of solidarity.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Oyetunde, expressed condolence of the National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya  and other colleagues.

She said, “In moments like this, it is natural to ask, ‘Why me?’ or ‘Why now?’ But we must trust that God, the giver of life, knows best. Take solace in the legacies your wife left behind and the shared memories of love you both cherished.”

She added, “I pray that the good Lord will comfort you and your children. Where her life stopped, your own life will not be cut short. The storms of life will not come near your household again. Be strong, and may God grant you the strength to carry on.”

Dr. Oyetunde also highlighted the importance of remaining resilient for the sake of his children, urging him to draw strength from the love and memories they shared with his late wife.

In his response, Mr. Titus Akhigbe expressed heartfelt gratitude for the visit. “I am overwhelmed by the love and solidarity shown to me during this dark time. Thank you, Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde, and the entire NUJ family, for your prayers, encouragement, and presence. They mean so much to me and my family,” he said.

The delegation included notable members of the NUJ leadership, Head of News, Bronze FM, Comrade Chinyere Oyeagba; Comrade James Akpojero, Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ Edo State, Adesuwa Ehimuan and other colleagues who lamented the unfortunate circumstances that brought them to Mr. Akhigbe’s residence. They prayed for peace and strength for his family while pledging continued support.
