The National Convener of N’Edo Gheria, a socio-political cum cultural group, Comrade Ebojele Akhere Patrick, has appealed to citizens of Edo State to desist from playing politics of hate.
He made the charge while counselling residents “to desilt drains around their neighborhood ahead of the July rains.”
According to Comrade Ebojele, “it is of note that, the world is experiencing global warming and Nigeria is not an exception same for Edo State.
“We can, as citizens, collaborate with government to clean our environment rather than playing politics of hate as it’s been exhibited by some persons.
“While it is true that government must provide the enabling act and environment for the evacuation of our debris, it’s of note that the citizens must also be mindful of green areas, moats and other water ways which research has shown overtime has been seriously encroached on by some persons therefore causing some of this menace whenever it rains.”
Going further, he urged everyone “to be an advocate of helping to sensitize our people on the need to keep our environment clean. We must stop politicizing everything, after all there have been governments before this one, and we had erosion problems.”
He appealed for the support and encouragement of our leaders to be focused on governance rather than politicking.
